Home Away from Home

Working in Serena Hotels, we’re so consumed with the environment we create for our guests – the seats they sit in, the food they eat, the ambiance that surrounds the creation of their memories – we often overlook the magic of the environment we’re working in ourselves. That’s what enriches the joy of working in such an industry.

My favorite things about working in Serena is the walk coming in. Most days I come in from the front entrance of the Islamabad Serena Hotel, the ‘guest entrance’ as we call it. It’s easier. I can always find a parking space, the Laundry shop is on the way on days I want to have mine pressed for the week and I get to meet the wonderful staff of Rakaposhi Café & Patisserie whose smiles warm my heart. That’s also where I grab my favorite chocolate croissant.

But some days, I prefer to take the time to walk in from the staff entrance. This is where the heart of the hotel lies. People are coming in to meet their shifts, signing in, making their way through the labyrinth of corridors, off to the lockers, off to their offices. Along the way, you see the place abuzz with life. And you know this is where you’re home away from home.
